Blog #45 - Camera Work

This scene has many different shots and angles within it. The therapy scenes begin with Colia and Dawn walking into her office. This was filmed in the hallway while they're turning the corner. For this, I wanted just their lower halfs in the shot. I used a low angle camera shot except, I didnt angle it up. I angled it straight. This so it was only their waist down. Allowing for the audience to see them turning the corner from a more unique angle.

I then took a shot of Colia entering Dawns office using a mid-shot and two-shot. This showing both their faces and their upper body. The point was strictly to see Colia entering the office while Dawn leads her to which room is hers. When in the office, it jumps to Dawn talking to Colia. This is also a two-shot. However, it is angled more at Colia. So, Colia is the main viewpoint, whereas Dawn is more off to the side, almost out of the frame. This distorted angle was to show more of the expression of Colia rather than Dawn. This angle also makes Colia closer to the camera for the same reason of making her the main center of the scene.

Following this is a quick close-up shot of Colia. To further gather her facial expressions. The camera then fades back into a mid-shot. During this, I used a pan camera shot to capture Colia and Ms. Robinson in the same shot. Then, an eyeline match back to Colia. This as it goes from Dawn looking at Colia and talking, to Colia as she says "yeah my best-friend Ora". Once again, using a two-shot to show a further conversation between the two. To show that Colia is warming up to Dawn and is talking to her now. Except, now the camera is closer to Dawn. This showing her importance as well. To conclude this scene I did the same shot from the scene of them leaving. I used the low angle camera shot and angled it straight. Capturing them leaving from the waist down.
