Blog #39 - Ora Scene Explained

Since I added alot to this scene, I will do a walk through of what happens. When the scene starts, Ora is greeted by Colia at the door. As soon as Ora enters the house Colia starts explaining whats going on. Now, I didn't want my film to include much dialouge. Due to this, their conversation isn't heard. The scene will be muted with "Sand In My Boots" instrumnetal version over it. This allows the audience to see that Colia is sad and talking about what she has been having bottled up. However, not actually being heard, just implied.

After Colia rants for a few seconds, Ora comforts her by nodding her head and acknowledging how Colia
is feeling. Colia then turns around, clearly upset and throws herself on tne floor. Ora follows behind her and comforts her with a hug. She holds Colia as she cries. This is all with the instrumental music rather then real audio.

When I was first planning this scene, I had imagined that I would have a specific lighting for their light source. This was going to be a lighting called "Backlighting". The point was to show them as a darker figure as the light from behind them enhanced their figure but they were very dark. I tried to do this but the closest I could get was focusing on the window behind them and having them a bit darker. It isn't what I wanted it to look like but working with my IPhone 11, it is the most I could do. The shot still looks good so im happy.
