Blog #32 - Mise-en-scène for Homework Scene
With this scene of Colia I use indoor lighting from my fan, a messy atmosphere, comfortable clothing, and close-up camera shot. These all worked together to set the scene and mood.
The lighting was between my room light from a regular lightbuld or natural lighting. In my room, next to my bed, I have a window. I was going to use natural lighting since the sun was out but it didnt look right. Due to that, I just used regular indoor lighting. Also, for Colias situation I wanted the room to appear a mess. This was easy as my room is already messy. Between school, work, and extra things I do, I dont keep up with it as much. This was helpful and made filming much easier.
My actor, Briana, kept the clothes that she wore to school. She is wearing a sweater and simple jeans. I wanted her to be wearing something comfortable for my film. So, instead of going to her house and changing she just remained in her outift she already had on. It is comfy and easy so it works. Her hair also is up. This adding to the comfy side.
I have mentioned before the filming proccess started that I was mainly going to be using close-up camera shot the most. It is an easy and accessable shot. It is basic but it does the job good. This film is all about Colias emotions and seeing her expressions. This scene is an example of that. I recorded from different spots and angles but remained with the close-up camera shot.
