Blog #8 - Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Research
Alongside anxiety I want to include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) into my project. PTSD is a mental health condition in which an individual is triggered due to a terrifying event, whether directly affected or witnessed. PTSD and anxiety are a familiar pair to be associated. With PTSD there are triggers and fear involved like anxiety. PTSD symptoms include, reoccurring memories of the traumatic event, flashbacks, nightmares, and physical and emotional distress. All of these are very scary yet very common. Typically, PTSD is seen the most through combat veterans as they were surrounded with death and scary environments. Women statistically have double the chance of getting PTSD than men. This as women are every 8 out if 100 (8%), and men are 4 out of 100 (4%). This making my movie more realistic as my main character is female. If my character was male he had a much higher chance of not being as affected.
For Colia, I want her to show a hint of PTSD with her anxiety. This to show that she has PTSD from the event that almost happened. Colia will display signs of PTSD as she could've died if the robbers had got in. I am still piecing the situation together but for the most part it is together. The traumatic event is that robbers are going to try to break into Colia's house. Colia will be alone. There will be a camera shot showing a quick shadow of a gun. So, the dangerous men will go to break in, not caring that Colia is there. Meaning they had intention of killing anyone that got in their way. When they're in pursuit, they will notice the camera to the side of them. They will hide their faces and retreat as they didn't see the camera there. This will be Colia's event that will send in her PTSD. She will get triggered with guns and loud noises/ banging that the men will have done when they were trying to break into her
house.
