Blog #16 - Male stereotypes
My last blog was female stereotypes as almost all of my actors are female, so this blog will be covering male stereotypes. This to explain the role of Ethan and Noah as my robbers.
Male stereotypes in film-
Males in films are stereotyped as aggressive, jealous, powerful and dominate. They are supposed to be unemotional and strong. They never show their feelings or be vulnerable. A lot of movies use these male stereotypes to make it seem that this is how men should act. Examples of this include, Hercules, American Psycho, and Fight Club. These movies all make it seem that men have to be violent and strong to be considered a man. They must fight and not be vulnerable. There are a few movies that show men being vulnerable, clumsy, and emotional. Some movies are "Mulan", "Moana", and "How To Train Your Dragon". With these women take a dominant role toward the lead main characters. The male characters learn to let women take control. They also show that men can be vulnerable toward the females in the movies.
Male stereotypes in my film-
My film will include male stereotypes. The only scene with males is the robber scene with Ethan and Noah. This goes with male stereotypes as they are being strong and aggressive. They are breaking into homes with the intent of hurting people. This setting the image that men have to be the ones doing dangerous stuff like this.
